Urban
Transport, Air Quality & Noise
The Solution from HEAVEN
7
December 2001, Paris
The goal of the HEAVEN project is to assess
air and noise pollution from traffic in near-real time. Six
major European cities are involved in jointly developing new
concepts and tools for local decision makers and traffic planners.
The HEAVEN Decision Support System
will help to evaluate the effects of local traffic on air
and noise. As the prototype is now ready, the HEAVEN project
consortium hosted a workshop to discuss the system with potential
users.
The workshop provided an opportunity to find
out more about the HEAVEN project and for potential users
to play a role in the development process. Presentations and
discussions included:
- Prototype of the Decision Support System
(DSS);
- Strategies for implementation of a DSS
to validate the impacts of Transport Demand Management Strategies;
- Integration of different sources of environmental
data and traffic related information;
- Accessibility of this information to different
administrative services & the public.
The workshop was attended by more than 100
traffic and environmental specialists and stakeholders coming
from all the European Countries. The final
Agenda (PDF, 65Kb) and all
presentations (in PPT format) are now available (it is
recommended to first save the file and then open locally).
